Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! On Thursday, June 29th, I received a text message from my brother with information about his daughter Bailey’s next swim meet. The text said it was being held on Saturday at the Fairland Sports and Aquatics Complex in Laurel, Maryland. “The complex offers aquatics, gymnastics, tennis and fitness classes for youth and adults.” I attended the event with Asenath and my daughter, Ailah. Bailey was amazing. Her tenacity and sheer will to compete was inspiring. Here is a short video clip of her performance… One of the places we checked out during our wedding anniversary weekend adventure in New York City was the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) located at 11 West 53rd Street. Tickets were $25 for adults and $18 for seniors. We enjoyed viewing exhibitions and collections by Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Georges-Pierre Seurat, Georgia O’Keeffe and one of our favorite exhibition, Refik Anadol - Unsupervised. Here is a quick look at what it was like at the MoMa… Hope everyone had a great weekend. My son Aijalon and I braved the extreme cold weather on Saturday to attend the Philly Auto Show. The annual winter event at the Philadelphia Convention Center took place from January 28 to February 5. We first checked out the newest vehicles from Ford, Honda, Jeep, Lexus, GMC, Aston Martin and more. Then we went downstairs to Custom Alley where on display were custom cars from A1 Wraps, Autoholics and Philly Customz just to name a few. We were a little disappointed that there weren't more celebrity custom cars but we still had an amazing time. Here are photos and a short video… What a great way to start the new year. Congratulations to our niece Avi and her cheerleading team on winning first place at the 2023 St. Hubert Cheerleading Competition in Bensalem, PA. Avi is a member of the Willingboro Panthers youth and senior cheer squad. These athletes were amazing during their incredible performance. Here are photos and video from the competition… I visited Fat Jack’s Comicrypt store in Philadelphia today and picked up a few comic books. One of the books I purchased was Black Adam Special Edition #1. It’s a good read. This book starts out with an amazing, eye opening fight scene then suddenly goes on to a plot that I think will develop into something great in the upcoming issues. (Black Adam made his first appearance in DC comics Marvel Family #1, December 1945. In the comic, he is an Egyptian prince named Teth-Adam who was bestowed powers by the wizard Shazam.) On October 21, 2022 Black Adam the movie will be released in the United States. Staring Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam), Pierce Brosnan (Doctor Fate), Aldis Hodge (Hawkman), Quintessa Swindell (Cyclone), Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher) and Djimon Hounsou (Shazam). Here is the official trailer… ...also check out these 3 new DC comic books. 1. Black Adam – The Justice Society Files: Dr. Fate #1 - December 2022 2. Batman Vs. Robin #1 (Variant Cover by Alexander Lozano) 3. Detective Comic 1064 - November 2022 (Variant Cover by Anacleto & Arif Prianto)
Yes, it was a good idea! Asenath and I visited the Barnes Foundation Museum in Philadelphia on Saturday. Walking around looking at artwork for about 2 hours made us both hungry, lol. The museum has a collection of the world’s most important impressionist, post-impressionist, and modern paintings, including works by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, and Picasso. Displayed alongside them are African masks, native American jewelry, Greek antiquities, and decorative metalwork. Around 1:30 pm we had lunch at the Barnes Foundation’s Garden Restaurant. Asenath ordered the HOUSE MADE FALAFEL and I had the SEARED SALMON, no drinks. Our lunch totaled $56+tip. Here are photos of our delicious meals... After lunch we went to check out the current exhibition of Isaac Julien: Once Again . . . (Statues Never Die), an immersive film installation exploring the relationship between Dr. Albert C. Barnes and famed philosopher and cultural critic Alain Locke. Here is a video clip of the exhibition... Here is a film that looks like it is going to be great… Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 6). The synopsis: “Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse. However, a threat emerges that may be too big for his team to handle.” The trailer looks amazing. |
